We are now closed for the Christmas period and will re-open on Wednesday 8th January. Merry Christmas!

Tickets & tours

Come along and explore the Coffin Works on either a guided tour or more at your own pace with self-guided entry
Open Wednesday – Sunday from 10:45am

Guided Tours

Our award-winning tour guides will lead you around the factory for approximately 1 hour 15 minutes and include demonstrations of the Victorian machinery.

Our tours have limited availability so we advise you pre-book to avoid missing out.

Self-guided entry

Our self-guided entry is great for families or those with additional needs as you can explore the museum at your own pace. You’ll receive a booklet, access to our mobile tour and volunteers in every room to answer questions and demonstrate the machinery.

* Concession rates apply to over 60s and students. Disabled visitors pay standard adult/child price but can bring a free carer. Please see our Discounts and Offers section below for details on national trust & art pass member discounts.

Group Bookings

We love welcoming groups for tours, we even have special refreshment rates for groups as well. So whether you’re an organisation or just a big group of friends, do get in touch!

Inclusivity at heart

“Had read a lot about the Coffin Works but never visited – now I wish I had gone years ago. A fascinating place – informative, well-run, with friendly volunteers/staff and lots to see for all ages. I visited with my two autistic sons and was pleased to see it was very autistic-friendly too, even on a normal Saturday. Definitely recommend!”

– Self-guided visitor review, 2022

Autism-friendly

Our Self-Guided entry is designed to be more inclusive to those with additional needs as you can interact with our volunteers as much or as little as you like. Our Mobile Tour has all the information you need and the loud machinery demonstration can be bypassed.

Alternatively, we do offer a specialised Relaxed experience for groups, which is a factory tour designed specifically for people on the Autistic Spectrum and their families. It is also suitable for people with additional learning, sensory or communication needs.

Gift Aid

The Coffin Works is a charity, so Gift Aid can make an enormous difference to keeping our doors open.

The Gift Aid scheme allows UK charities to claim back from the government, on your behalf, the basic rate of tax already paid on admissions. This can only be done when a 10% donation is added to the ticket price. Then, we can claim back 25% of the whole payment, not just the 10% donation. Meaning we can claim back an extra 25p for every £1 that is gifted.

Gift Aid is only applicable to UK taxpayers so we understand not everyone can help, but we are extremely grateful to all those who can.

It may seem a small donation added onto your ticket price, but it makes a huge difference to us and we thank you!

Please note

Walk-ins are welcome but to guarantee a ticket we recommend you book in advance through Art Tickets.

Online booking closes at 9am on the day.

Whilst we will always endeavour to offer self-guided visits, as advertised on our website and leaflet, this is subject to change at short notice due to volunteer availability. On the day of visiting, this may mean that we offer you a guided tour instead of a self-guided visit. Our commitment to delivering excellent customer service means that you will always receive the best visitor experience possible. We appreciate your understanding, thank you.
